With our 4x4 SUV's, this four-day expedition takes you deep into the heart of Lesotho — blending remote village life, legendary mountain routes, and iconic cultural landmarks.
The journey begins with a private pickup in Clarens before crossing into Lesotho on a scenic highland drive. This is a journey defined by winding mountainside roads and a carefully selected route that shows you the true beauty of the Kingdom in the Sky. Your first night is spent in a rural village lodge, where a guided village walk offers authentic insight into Basotho culture. Between the high-altitude peaks, you will experience a mountainside picnic lunch and a traditional South African braai dinner to complete the day.
-
Accommodation: Rural Village Lodge (Dinner, Bed & Breakfast included).
Day two climbs into Lesotho’s high-altitude heartland with a visit to the culturally significant Liphofung Cave before joining the iconic Roof of Africa route. This stretch offers unspoiled vistas as far as the eye can see, navigating the high ridges that define this territory. Lunch is enjoyed at Africa’s highest pub (own expense), followed by the expedition's mechanical masterpiece: an exhilarating, technical 4x4 descent down the legendary Sani Pass. This is a demanding, low-range trek through narrow tracks and steep drop-offs that truly tests man and machine.
-
Accommodation: Mountain-facing executive room at Premier Resort Sani Pass (Dinner, Bed & Breakfast included).
On day three, the 4x4 adventure continues as we travel through Qacha’s Nek. We leave the main tracks behind to navigate the winding mountainside roads that snake deep into the interior toward Maletsunyane Falls. This isn't just a viewpoint visit—we 4x4 you directly to the edge of the cliff, perched high above one of Southern Africa’s highest single-drop waterfalls. Here, you will enjoy a catered lunch at the side of the falls, with the roar of the water and views that stretch to the horizon.
-
Accommodation: The magnificent Semonkong (Breakfast included).
The final day explores Thaba Bosiu, the birthplace of the Basotho nation, with a guided cultural tour of this historic mountain fortress. After lunch near Maseru (own expense), you return to Clarens, with the option to extend your stay at our Clarens accommodation. This is a four-day immersion into a world of rugged grandeur—a true 4x4 frontier where the roads are as challenging as the vistas are beautiful.
This tour is specifically designed for travelers seeking an authentic off-road experience. Prepare for technical terrain, steep drop-offs, and unpredictable mountain weather—this is a four-day immersion into incredible mountainside views through rugged and rural Lesotho. Expect unspoiled vistas as far as the eye can see: a rare glimpse into a landscape that remains as wild as it is beautiful.
We conveniently take care of the border fees and tourism fees to give you a hassle free experience.
To ensure your safety, our driver/ guide is experienced and will make sure you are looked after throughout the entire journey.
